A visit from Erik Hanberg

Monday, November 25, 2009, Erik Hanberg came in our class and shared some information about his life in the business industry and life as a writer. He talked about "exit 133" and how him and his wife worked on it. In addition, he compared Two kinds of work-1. Hourly and Salary and 2. Scalable work. Later, He mentioned that he has written 9 novels, but he's still not as rich as JK Rowling, who has written only 7 novels. At the end, he recommended some books and wrapped it up after answering questions.

Physical or Virtual Documentation

Both of the documentations have their own advantages and dis-advantages. However, I prefer Virtual documentations over Physical. Why? Virtual documentations are can be found very easily. For example, I can sit at my home on my computer and type in the subject or topic I am working. BOOM! I'll have all the information right in front of me in seconds. Moreover, it is updated regularly, where as Physical Documentations are not updated as frequently. Of course there is some disadvantage, today, anybody can go on internet and post whatever they want. there are always chances that the information that I'm receiving is not 100% accurate or not accurate at all. Therefore, I would have to make sure that the information that I'm using is true. On the other hand, Physical Documentations- books, encyclopedias, etc- are always accurate.

Convergence

"what is Convergence?" - when I googled it, bunch of websites came up. The first web link that caught my attention was Wikipedia, with title "Technological Convergence."
The Wikipedia defined Convergence as "The tendency for different technological systems to evolve towards performing similar tasks." It also said that "Convergence can refer to previously separate technologies such as voice (and telephony features, data (and productivity applications) and video that now share resources and interact with each other, synergistically creating new efficiencies."
